Cytotechnologist (Medical Lab)

Jobs in this group are typically responsible for managing and operating laboratory facilities used for research, teaching, or to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and/or prevention of disease. They ensure equipment maintenance, adhere to safety protocols, and support quality control.

• These roles focus on performing a range of operational activities in support of laboratory testing, including managing lab equipment, ensuring proper safety protocols, and supporting research and experiments.
• Responsible for maintaining lab functionality and efficiency.
• Individual contributors with responsibility in a clinical discipline or specialty.
• Typically involves diagnosing, treating, and caring for patients, and often include face-to-face interactions with patients.
• May also spend some time designing and implementing clinical programs, policies, and services using specialized knowledge and skills.
• Specialty license or certification required which is acquired through advanced education, training and/or experience.
• This career stream will be most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory technologist jobs. ​ Requires basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and require vocational or technical education.​ Works under moderate supervision.
• Problems are typically of a routine nature but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. ​ Communicates information that requires some explanation or interpretation​.
• MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelors Degree required.
• Masters or relevant Terminal degree preferred but may be required as specified.

Experience

2+ years' professional experience required.

Licensure

Specified by position requirements. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing, sitting for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping, reaching and repetitive motion. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. The starting base rate for this role is $37.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
