Provides professional nursing services to pediatric clients in accordance with a medically approved care plan and state practice acts. Responsibilities include performing physical assessments, supervising junior staff, and coordinating care with medical practitioners.
Requires a nursing degree from an accredited school and a current Registered Nurse license in the state of operation. Candidates must have CPR certification and a valid driver's license with an insured vehicle.
Position Summary: Day Shift 40 hours/ week
Provides services to clients in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act, Agency
policy, and accepted professional standards of practice. The Registered Nurse (RN)
provides nursing services utilizing a comprehensive base of nursing theory under the
direction of a medically approved care plan.
Reports to: Clinical Supervisor
Provides supervision to: NA – No supervision responsibilities
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. BSN preferred. Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of operation. Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills. Current CPR certification. Licensed driver with automobile insured in accordance with state and/or Agency requirements.
1. Assumes responsibility and accountability for the practice of professional nursing
in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and standards for home health
nursing.
2. Performs physical assessments of clients. May complete comprehensive
assessments for client admissions and reassessments at the discretion of the
Clinical Supervisor.
3. Supervises Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses (LPN/LVNs) and/or Home Health
Aides (HHAs) at the discretion of the Clinical Supervisor.
4. Reports changes in client condition promptly to the medical practitioner
overseeing care as well as to other members of the client’s care team.
5. Participates in the development of the client care plan.
6. Consistently demonstrates competency with technical nursing skills according to
personal and legal scope of practice.
7. Practices nursing with respect for individual, cultural, and spiritual differences.
8. Follows Agency policies and procedures as well as payor and accreditation
requirements.
9. Initiates actions to improve the quality of client care and to prevent negative client
outcomes. Continually promotes safety and infection prevention and control
practices.
10. Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
11. Participates in ongoing, professional self-development.
12. Delegates tasks to Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses (LPN/LVNs) and/or Home
Health Aides (HHAs) based on their legal scope of practice and where
circumstances require.
13. Performs other duties as deemed necessary.
