The surgical technician assists in the nursing care and presentation of the surgical patient under the direct supervision of the surgeon and circulating nurse. This role involves handling necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment during the procedure while anticipating surgeon needs and vigilantly maintaining the sterile field.
Required qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED and current BLS Certification, along with prior experience in a Surgical Technician role or completion of a surgical tech training course. Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification are preferred.
