The Dialysis Technician provides competent dialysis treatment and patient care as delegated by a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include setting up, monitoring, and terminating dialysis therapy while documenting patient responses in electronic health records.
Candidates must obtain BLS certification and either hold or obtain CCHT/CHT certification within 18 months of hire. Preferred qualifications include prior dialysis, phlebotomy, or regulated healthcare experience.
The Dialysis Technician performs tasks and provides patient care as delegated by a Registered Nurse consistent with practice standards. The Dialysis Technician provides competent dialysis treatment consistent with treatment prescription and observes the patient's physiologic response to treatment and reports variation to the charge RN as indicated. Posting Specifics Pay Range: $19.87 - $28.31/hour (Uncertified) (depending on experience). $21.88 - $33.77/hour (Certified) (depending on experience) Benefits Eligible: Yes (Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), and many more benefits) Shift Details: Part-time, 24 hours/week. No set schedule. Variable in days and number of hours with on-call and weekend requirements Location: Outpatient Dialysis, Utah Dialysis Center (Salt Lake City, UT) Essential Functions Provides dialysis care in accordance to established policies, procedures and guidelines which includes; setting up the dialysis machine, initiating, monitoring, and terminating dialysis therapy in accordance with the provider order. Recognizes problems, demonstrates appropriate immediate action and notifies responsible parties promptly. Maintains a safe environment for patients and caregivers by adhering to all established Intermountain policies, procedures and guidelines. Documents appropriately in the electronic health record. Participates in continuous improvement activities and programs. Caregivers in this role must obtain their Certified Chronic Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) Certification within 18 months of hire or they must vacate the role.
Required (Certified) Current Certified Chronic Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT)) Certification or Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) Certification. Caregivers must maintain an active Certified Chronic Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) Certification or Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) Certification to remain in this role. Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers prior to start date. Qualifications – Preferred Dialysis experience Experience working in a regulated healthcare environment Phlebotomy experience Physical Requirements Ability to evaluate and interpret color coded test results on test strips. Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.). May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time. For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles Location: Utah Dialysis Center Work City: Salt Lake City Work State: Utah Scheduled Weekly Hours: 24 The hourly range for this position is listed below.
