The Surgical Technologist acts as a primary scrub person, handling instruments and equipment during surgical procedures. They are responsible for selecting, assembling, and testing equipment while ensuring strict adherence to sterile techniques.
Candidates must have a vocational or technical school education and be a Certified Scrub Tech with BLS certification. Zero to one year of experience is preferred.
The Surgical Technologist provides patient care under the direct supervision of the Physician and the Registered Nurse. The Surgical Technologist demonstrates responsibility and accountibility in selecting, assembling, testing and operating equipment and instruments in accordance with policies and procedures. The Surgical Technologist is respsonible and accountable in performing as a primary scrub person handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure while applying principles of sterile technique. The Surgical Technologist contributes to expected patient outcomes in accordance with policies, procedures, established standards, and administrative policies.
