Prepares sterile and non-sterile medications and manages distributive processes and equipment across the hospital. Acts as the primary contact for sterile compounding room activities, providing direction and training to other pharmacy staff.
Requires a high school diploma, CPhT certification, and licensure from the Virginia Department of Health Professions. Must have at least one year of hospital pharmacy technician experience.
IV Pharmacy Technician - Certified (PRN)
Purpose & Scope: Prepares sterile and non-sterile medications for distribution under the supervision of pharmacists and is responsible for managing the medication distributive processes, equipment and systems across the hospital. The IV technician also undertakes various activities in the sterile compounding areas not requiring the professional judgment of a pharmacist. The IV Technician will act as primary contact and provide direction for all sterile compounding room activities. He/she will be responsible for completion of assigned operational tasks. The IV Technician will provide direction and participates in the supervision and training of other pharmacy staff working in the sterile compounding room. The IV Technician must function in strict accordance with standard, written procedures and guidelines.
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
