Provide technical expertise and competent patient care during Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology procedures. Responsibilities include preparing the operating room, operating radiographic equipment, and assisting with patient admission and discharge.
Requires a high school diploma and completion of an accredited surgical technologist or RCIS program with a current license. Candidates must have at least two years of experience in a Cath Lab and hold current BLS and ACLS certifications.
Deliver competent patient care and technical expertise in the operation of Cardiac Catheterization (Cath Lab) and Electrophysiology (EP) procedures and equipment. Assist in cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, vascular, and interventional procedures. Adhere to established standards and practices under the supervision of a credentialed invasive cardiologist or electrophysiologist. Responsibilities & Duties: Review the operating room schedule at the beginning of each day to plan and prepare to perform the scrub position's duties effectively and efficiently. Competent in assisting routine Cardiac Cath and EP procedures/skills. Operates computer and radiographic equipment for image production and documentation and performs quality control measures to ensure optimal image quality. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to interpret and respond to patient data and hemodynamic responses during pre, intra, and post-Cath and EP procedures. Assists with the patient's admission, transfer, and discharge. Demonstrates ability to perform different responsibilities within the department, such as being a circulator, monitor, scrub, and holding area personnel assistant. Meets periodic USHV and unit-specific health screening, training, attendance, safety, CPR, and ACLS compliance requirements. Other duties assigned include quality control and assurance audits, environmental rounds, supply management, and any tasks deemed necessary by the center's director. Other duties as assigned.
Completion of a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists, RCIS program, or certified ARRT and possession of a current license from a credential administered by a nationally accredited credentialing organization Written verification by a health care facility of employment as a full-time Cath Lab technologist for two years. RCIS certification will be required at the time of annual review. A minimum of two years’ experience assisting in a Cath Lab is required, Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Saving (ACLS) certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) are required.
