Provide psychiatric care and mental health services within an outpatient setting. Manage patient treatment plans and psychiatric evaluations.
Must be a qualified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Ability to work full-time in an outpatient services environment.
Performs comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including clinical history, mental status exams, DSM-5-TR diagnosis, and risk assessments Prescribes and manages medications for psychiatric and addiction-related needs, including Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) and withdrawal management agents Conducts medication reconciliation and orders laboratory or toxicology studies to interpret results and adjust treatment plans accordingly Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team—including psychiatrists, RNs, social workers, and peer specialists—to develop individualized discharge and safety plans Participates in clinical rounds and safety planning to ensure effective disposition decisions in a crisis setting Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (Avatar) in compliance with OMH/OASAS regulations and HIPAA standards Adheres to DEA, PMP/I-STOP, and EPCS requirements, including the review of controlled substance history prior to prescribing Provides essential education to patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, harm reduction, and overdose prevention (including naloxone) Engages in peer reviews, quality improvement initiatives (QA/PI), and ongoing professional continuing education
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) concentration Active, unrestricted New York State Registered Professional Nurse license Active, unrestricted New York State Nurse Practitioner certification in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP-BC) through ANCC Active DEA registration with authority to prescribe buprenorphine and other controlled substances Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) or PMHNP preferred; new graduates with strong psychiatric nursing backgrounds considered Experience in co-occurring disorders, crisis services, inpatient psychiatry, or emergency psychiatry strongly preferred Current CPR/BLS certification; ACLS preferred Advanced clinical knowledge of psychopharmacology, withdrawal management, and MOUD (Medications for Opioid Use Disorder) Expert assessment skills for suicide risk, agitation, psychosis, and intoxication or withdrawal Familiarity with trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and harm-reduction clinical practices Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (Avatar preferred) and EPCS requirements Excellent collaborative communication skills for working with physicians, nurses, and non-medical clinicians in a 24/7 crisis setting
This is a full-time exempt role with an annual salary of $150,000-$169,744 with a full benefits package.
