Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse (RN) for the ICU should understand the importance of attention to detail and possess high-level critical thinking skills for acutely and critically ill patients. The core responsibilities in this role are: Monitoring Patients: Continuously assessing vital signs and responding to any changes in condition. Administering Medications: Ensuring accurate dosage and timely administration of treatments. Operating Medical Equipment: Managing ventilators, monitors, and other life-support devices. Collaborating with Healthcare Teams: Working closely with physicians and specialists to develop treatment plans. Providing Emotional Support: Educating and comforting patients and their families during difficult times. Maintaining Patient Records: Keeping detailed documentation of treatments and progress. Responding to Emergencies: Acting swiftly in life-threatening situations, including resuscitation efforts. Adhering to Safety Protocols: Following strict infection control measures to protect patients and staff.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing
- State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
- BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire
