Under the supervision of the Senior Program Supervisor, the Prevention Specialist is a member of a mobile van-based outreach program providing syringe support services, harm reduction education and counseling, referrals, and other supportive services to people who use/inject drugs (PWUD/PWID) within the Mid-Hudson region. The position will be required to provide support services to the two mobile units providing services within Dutchess, Ulster, Orange, and Sullivan Counties as well as the Newburgh Hub as needed.
An Associate’s Degree with at least two years of experience working with PWUD/PWID, outreach, including knowledge of harm reduction, behavioral health, social services, support services, as well as community and provider resources. Minimum of one year experience working with PWUD, drug treatment services, knowledge of HIV/HCV/STI, harm reduction, healthcare, and community resources. Experience working with PWUD/PWID population. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Travel/Time Requirement: Must have a valid, unrestricted driver's license and independent means of transportation for frequent travel to locations throughout the assigned county as well as to the offices of Cornerstone.
