Support the Meds to Beds program by filling and distributing oral and injectable medications for discharging patients. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure safe medication transitions and maintain accurate controlled substance records.
Requires a high school diploma and either a pharmacy technician program completion, six months of relevant experience, or current college enrollment. Must obtain various clearances including CPR, CCMC, and FBI background checks.
Filling Assist in filling medication orders and preparing oral/injectable medications, including hazardous drugs. Distribution Distribute medications, retrieve discontinued ones, and maintain service relationships. Investigational Handle procurement, storage, preparation, and distribution of investigational drugs. General Communicate with hospital personnel, ensure safe storage of medications, maintain a clean work environment, use computer skills for patient records, and comply with regulations. Manage inventory, update automated stations, and assist in training. Controlled Substances Maintain and audit controlled substance records, ensuring compliance. Additional Duties Perform other assigned duties and adhere to system-wide competencies.
Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required AND one of the following: Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program Six months of previous pharmacy technician experience required Six months experience as a Pharmacy Assistant within the UPMC Health System Enrollment in a college program and in good standing ATTENTION: A COPY OF YOUR HIGHEST DEGREE LEVEL TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE ATTACHED FOR CONSIDERATION.
PA State Board of Pharmacy Registration required for all PA locations; If working in a New York facility, must have received certification from a nationally accredited pharmacy program (CPhT) and be registered with the New York State Board of Pharmacy.
