Provides direct and indirect patient care activities under the supervision of licensed clinical team members to address physiological, emotional, and social needs. Responsibilities include conducting patient rounds, maintaining supplies, and facilitating virtual care encounters using telehealth technology.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Candidates must possess knowledge of medical terminology, patient care risks, and the ability to lift 40-50 lbs.
High School Diploma/GED Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care needs and their role in interprofessional team. Ability to complete delegated tasks within scope of role. Knowledge of personal care and hygiene necessary for quality of life, and ability to apply this knowledge to patients in need on a daily basis. Knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment, and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks. Knowledge of how to convey respect and collaborate with each patient, family and/or designated care partner in care. Knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds and the ability to convey respect and connect effectively. Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques, ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Uses the language of partnership with patients and families, engaging them in their health and health care. Physical Demands Lift and carry 40-50 lbs.
Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
