Patient Care Associate- Emergency Services

• Assists nurses with direct and indirect patient care activities.
• Prepares patients rooms for occupancy after discharge.
• Additional responsibilities includes blood draws and EKG's.
• Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Observes patient's mental, emotional and physical conditions and report any changes to the nursing staff.
• Performs non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures based on medical instructions as directed by nursing staff.
• May perform special procedures as required and directed (i.e., blood draws/EKGs).
• Conducts regular patient rounds and meets with patient’s family members when required.
• Collects test specimens and performs laboratory analysis as directed by nursing staff.
• Answers patient calls and determines how best to help them.
• Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.

Qualifications

Required: High school diploma or equivalent Completion of a Nurse Assistant Certification Program or equivalent BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification Preferred: Minimum of six (6) months recent experience as a Nurse Assistant in an acute care setting preferred. Completion of phlebotomy course or equivalent experience preferred.
