The MRI Assistant assists technical staff with patient care responsibilities during imaging studies. This includes greeting and transporting patients, preparing the MRI scan room, and maintaining patient privacy.
Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for CNA certification or enrollment in a Radiologic Technology program. CPR or BLS certification is required within 30 days of hire.
Overview Supports MRI department operations by greeting and transporting patients, assisting with patient preparation and positioning, obtaining screening information, and helping ensure a smooth and efficient imaging experience. This role also performs clerical and communication tasks, supports technical staff, maintains patient privacy and safety standards, and helps coordinate quality patient care throughout the department.
Greets, escorts and transports patients; assists patients onto and off of the imaging tables Removes I.V.'s as needed Assists the technical staff with MRI scan room preparation and patient positioning Expedites the patients prior to, during, and after procedures Obtains the patient screening/history Performs clerical functions related to MRI patient preparation Answers phone and relays messages/instructions Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws (e.g. HIPPA) and facility policies and procedures Knowledge and use of PACs, Epic and communication systems and can enter information Uses 2 patient identifiers and appropriate barriers Assists with daily department operations Work with the appropriate staff to ensure quality patient care Follows department CMOS plan and scripting. Education and Experience High School or Equivalent Certification and Licensure Prefer CNA or actively enrolled in a Radiologic Technology School preferred Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 30 days of hire Skills and Abilities Ability to use oxygen equipment, transports patients on carts and wheelchairs (MRI compatible equipment). Can assist in preparing patients for MRI by removing and attaching MRI ECG leads. Ability to read, write, speak, hear and comprehend the English language. Understanding knowledge of MRI Safety with Annual Competency.
