About the unit 7 North is a 39-bed Medical Surgical GI/GU unit located in Butterworth Hospital.
This unit is known for its outstanding teamwork and welcoming atmosphere!
At 7 North opportunities to learn and grow never stop due to the variety in patient population, this unit is considered a medical/surgical unit but specializes in the care of urology and surgical oncology post-operative patients as well as those with gastrointestinal diagnoses.
This team stands out as being experts in nasogastric tubes, urinary catheters and urologic care, and managing the care of wounds, ostomies, tubes and drains.
Examples of surgeries that may take place on 7 North include: Nephrectomy; Whipple; Cholecystectomy; Pancreatectomy; kidney donor.

Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team.
Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.
Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients.
Ensures that the required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
