Requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and the ability to pass a criminal background check. Previous caregiving experience and CPR/First Aid certification are preferred.
Kahak Health Care Services is seeking compassionate, dependable, and dedicated individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and Residential Sponsors. In this role, you will provide direct care, supervision, and support to individuals with intellectual, developmental, physical, and behavioral disabilities in residential and community settings. The goal is to promote independence, dignity, safety, and quality of life.
Residential Sponsors may provide care within their own approved residence or designated residential setting while creating a supportive, family-style environment for individuals receiving services.
Direct Care & Personal Support Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including: Bathing Dressing Grooming Toileting Hygiene care Assist with mobility, lifting, positioning, and transfers when needed Support medication administration and maintain accurate medication records Monitor individuals’ health, behaviors, and emotional well-being Provide companionship, encouragement, and emotional support Transport individuals to: Medical appointments Recreational activities School or work programs Community outings Shopping and errands Encourage community integration and participation in social activities Advocate for client rights, choices, and personal goals Residential & Household Responsibilities Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and healthy living environment Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary plans and restrictions Assist individuals with laundry, housekeeping, and daily chores Ensure household supplies and client necessities are maintained Promote life skills training and independent living skills Transport individuals to: Medical appointments Recreational activities School or work programs Community outings Shopping and errands Encourage community integration and participation in social activities Advocate for client rights, choices, and personal goals Provide a stable, supportive, and family-oriented home environment Ensure clients receive supervision and support appropriate to their needs Maintain compliance with residential program regulations and inspections Participate in meetings, trainings, and case management reviews Coordinate with families, guardians, case managers, and healthcare providers Requirements & Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Previous caregiving, healthcare, or DSP experience preferred(1year) Experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities preferred Must be at least 21 years old (preferred for residential sponsor role) Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation Clean driving record Ability to pass: Criminal background check CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain) Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to remain calm and professional during emergencies Compassionate, patient, dependable, and organized Ability to work independently and as part of a team Residential Sponsor Additional Requirements Must have a safe and approved residence (if providing live-in sponsorship services) Home must meet state licensing and safety standards Ability to provide a stable and supportive living environment Willingness to participate in home inspections and compliance reviews Physical Requirements Ability to lift, push, pull, and assist individuals as needed Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods Ability to respond quickly during emergencies or behavioral situations
