The Pharmacy Technician III is responsible for filling, preparing, and delivering medications while ensuring safe and effective medication use. They provide advanced technical support, train new employees, and collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED, Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration, and PTCB or ExCPT certification. Candidates must have 2 to 4 years of relevant experience and the ability to perform medium to heavy physical tasks.

This is a full-time position that rotates AM/PM shifts with occasional 3rd shift coverage, plus every other weekend and holidays.

High School Diploma or GED required.
4 years of relevant experience, or 2 years of employment required Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Licensure:Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration is required. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (ExCPT) required.
State Registration and/or evidence of renewal is required for both Pharmacists and Technicians fifteen days prior to expiration and Technicians are required to be either certified through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or be actively enrolled in pharmacy school or be active in Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) or Foreign Pharmacy Equivalency Certification (FPGEC). Considerable knowledge and application of basic math skills, including ratio and proportion relationships; strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Basic technology skills. Other duties as outline in UVA Health Northern VA Culpeper and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to work as part of a high performing, change ready and resilient team.
Considerable knowledge of medication names (both trade and generic) and their doses, routes of administration, and adverse effects; the ability to demonstrate patient interview skills and strong written and communication skills with other healthcare professionals.
