Performs technical radiologic functions to ensure proper diagnosis, including capturing high-quality images and following radiation protection guidelines. Responsible for room setup, equipment maintenance, and assisting radiologists during procedures.
Requires completion of an accredited two-year Radiology Technology program and current A.R.R.T and C.R.T licenses. BLS certification is required, and a Fluoroscopy Permit must be obtained within six months of hire.
Overview Under the direction of the department manager, performs interpretive, patient care, and technical functions to insure proper radiologic diagnosis of patients. Radiology technicians must be able to closely follow physician instructions, prepare radiograph equipment, position patients, correctly and accurately capture the requested diagnostic image.
Demonstrate ability to produce high quality radiographs Consistently produces diagnostic images and keeps repeats to a minimum. Follow all radiation protection guidelines, as listed in Title 17, California Radiation Control Regulations Comply with film badge policy 100% of the time. Shield patients per protocols 100% of the time. Record female patient's LMP on requisition 100% of the time. Follow proper storage and up keep of lead aprons and gloves 95% of the time. Follow appropriate protection protocols for other employees and/or family members Radiology area. Room set-up and assist Radiologist Maintain supplies stocked and room cleaned and organized. Follow proper technique if procedure is sterile procedure or fluoroscopy, etc. Assist Radiologist when indicated. Monitor all Equipment use and function Troubleshoots equipment before calling service engineer. Takes good care of all equipment and provides regular surface cleaning sessions for all x-ray units. Complete all patient paperwork Within 10 minutes of exam, check to be sure that the patient information is legible and correct on all paperwork. Be sure jacket has appropriate insert. Compare jackets as needed. Report all problems with paperwork to appropriate person. Supply Control Utilizes resources conscientiously. Minimizes waste of resources and continuously seeks ways to save on supplies. Manages inventory well. Participates in education programs Attends in-service workshops as requested by supervisor. Attends outside education seminars to remain current in field. Demonstrate flexibility in job duties Assist in other areas of the department as needed. Become knowledgeable of functioning of all areas of department. Suggest areas that need attention and offer assistance. Actively participates in Performance Improvement Activities. Minimum Education - Completion of an Accredited Two-Year Radiology Technology Program. Minimum Experience - No Formal Experience Required; However, One Year Acute-Care Setting Preferred. Required Certification/Registration - A.R.R.T required; C.R.T. license required. BLS certification required. Fluoroscopy Permit required within six months from hire date.
