Assist pediatric patients with activities of daily living and perform clinical tasks such as monitoring vital signs and recording intake/output. Maintain a clean, safe environment and coordinate with Registered Nurses to deliver high-quality patient care.
Requires a high school diploma or GED and CNA certification from the State of Florida or completion of nursing clinical rotations. Must possess American Heart Basic Life Support certification upon hire, with one year of experience preferred.
Assist patients with activities of daily living (bath, feed, play, etc) and provide other patient care as directed Prepare rooms for patient admissions assuring that the room is clean and proper equipment is set up for patient's needs Participate in comfort rounds, if applicable Perform vital signs and reports abnormalities to assigned RN Record intake and output of patients as directed by RN Ensure an adequate stock of all necessary equipment and supplies in designated areas at established par levels Maintain sterile technique during formula preparation and follows the standards of formula preparation as described in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics “Guidelines for Preparations of Human Milk and Formula in Health Care Facilities” Ensure a clean and safe patient care environment Utilize the electronic medical record as required to document the patient care provided Transport patients to other unit locations and escorts discharged patients to car Serve as receptionist for unit by promptly answering telephone/call light console, greeting patients/families/visitors, updating and monitoring the child abduction system and managing other software systems Participate in unit, departmental and hospital education programs Adhere to the Nemours Standards of Behavior Deliver reports, supplies, etc.., to other patient unit locations as needed Effectively communicate about patient needs with other departments as delegated by the Registered Nurse Participate in departmental and hospital programs for quality assessment and improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of The Nemours Foundation Attend unit/department meetings regularly Accept feedback and takes direction from responsible RN and adjusts care accordingly Support family centered care in all patient care interactions Exemplify the professional image of the patient care services department by meeting all standards of dress code, wearing easily visible identification badge and appropriately utilizing all personal protective equipment Successfully complete annual hospital wide and unit-based skills requirements Job Requirements High school diploma or GED Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) by the State of Florida or successful completion of one full semester clinical rotations in an accredited School of Nursing Minimum of one year of patient care experience preferred American Heart Basic Life Support upon hire
