The EKG Technician performs electrocardiograms and Holter monitor placements while charting results into patient medical records. They are also responsible for maintaining equipment and updating procedures within computer software environments.
Candidates must be high school graduates, though an associate's degree is preferred, and must obtain BCLS certification within six months. Additional requirements include a minimum typing speed of 35 wpm and the physical ability to stand for long periods.
Must be able to work independently or as part of a team and need to be able to function well in emergency situations. Must have good communication and interpersonal skills, are detail-oriented, and have excellent hand-eye coordination. Must be physically fit enough to work on their feet for long periods of time. Must be able to respond to code calls and stat calls in a timely manner.
