The Medical Assistant is responsible for preparing patient charts, managing exam rooms, and taking vital signs to ensure efficient clinical operations. They also perform clinical tasks such as administering medications, immunizations, and collecting laboratory specimens.
Candidates must complete a Medical Assistant training program and obtain BLS-CPR certification within 90 days of hire. A certification as a Registered Medical Assistant and 1-3 years of experience are preferred.
Maintains an inventory of medications and medical supplies. An order will be placed as needed. And entering newly arrived medications into the log prior to storage.If properly trained, administers medications by intramuscular, subcutaneous and intradermal injection, performs skin tests while demonstrating knowledge in pertinent anatomy and physiology, proper techniques, post treatment and care, choice of equipment, hazards and complications and California Medical Assistant scope of practice.Upon administration of a medication, the patient's name dosage, date and route of administration of medication shall be recorded in the medication log by the person who administered or dispensed the medication.
Maintains the Immunization Control Log, entering newly arrived immunizations into the log prior to storage.Checks the temperature on the refrigerator containing vaccines on a daily basis, noting the results on the form provided.Administers immunizations following the immunization schedule provided by the county and utilizing proper techniqueUnderstands the immunization schedule and possible side effects with immunizations and can answer patient or parent questions.
