Responsible for the operation of cagewash equipment and general cleaning of the Vivarium. Provides daily husbandry, breeding, and health monitoring for laboratory mice and rats to support research studies.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED, with a Bachelor's in Life Sciences preferred. AALAS or ALAT certification is required or must be obtained within two years of employment.
High School Diploma or GED with Bachelor in the Life Sciences field preferred American Association for Laboratory Animal Science “AALAS” and/or American Laboratory Animal Technician “ALAT” certification at one of the three levels. *If not certified the Institute will support you in becoming certified at the 1st level within 2 years of employment. Ability to lift, push, pull, stand, and manipulate caging and equipment weighing 10 pounds for 1/3 to 2/3 of the day and up to 100 pounds for less than 1/3 of the day. Previous animal experience is strongly preferred. Compensation/Benefits/Schedule: This is a full-time on-site Monday – Friday position, with occasional weekends. You will have the option to choose your set start time between 6:00am and 8:00am. $21 per hour Eligibility starting day one for VAI’s generous benefits package.
