Requires certification as a Surgical Technologist from NBSTSA, NCCT, or a US Military program, along with BLS certification from AHA. A preferred minimum of 2 years of experience as a Scrub Tech in the OR is desired.

Job Summary Surgical Technologists work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and noninvasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical technologists possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provides a safe, efficient environment for the surgical patient Applies and enforces principles of aseptic technique Pulling cases as need and breaking down cases at the end of the procedures. Scrubbing and passing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures. Checks all equipment and reports or corrects unsafe conditions prior to placing on the sterile field Verifies exposure to sterilization process and integrity of sterile packaging Selects, prepares, and maintains instrumentation, equipment, and supplies, and sponges Initiates sponge, instrument, and sharp counts at the appropriate time Replenishes necessary supplies and equipment for department Strictly adheres to hospital and department policies, procedures, and duties Aids nurse with duties related to the care of the patient while in the operating room Assists with proper preparation and disposition of specimen Assists with adequate preparation of the operating room Behavioral Standards Treats everyone as their customer; utilizes scripting and other tools to ensure consistency in customer service; Expresses recognition and shows appreciation to others; fully utilizes AIDET principles; responds quickly to handle requests, complaints, and questions; displays a positive attitude. Communication/Knowledge Wears nametag properly; follows dress code policy; answers phone correctly and promptly; is prepared for meetings; meets deadlines; does not participate in gossip; acts ethically and treats others with respect; respects customer’s and co-worker’s time; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and co-workers.
Experience Preferred minimum 2 years’ experience as Scrub Tech in the OR. Ability to operate sterilizers and all equipment used in the operating room Bariatric experience a plus. Licensure/Certifications Certification as a Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, the National Center for Competency Testing, or an appropriate program for surgical technology through the United States Military.
