Responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment. This includes transporting sterile supplies to clinical locations and maintaining detailed records of daily activities.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and a CRCST certification, though certification can be obtained within one year of hire. Prior experience in central sterile processing is preferred.

Be responsible for decontamination, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of reusable instrumentation and equipment according to established department policies and procedures. Retrieve used trays, instruments, and equipment from various surgical and clinical hospital areas for decontamination. Examine instruments and patient care equipment for cleanliness, proper assembly, and functionality. Identify malfunctioning items, records related information, and promptly notify supervisor or biomedical engineer. Communicate with perioperative staff regarding related instrument needs. Transport sterile supplies to assigned surgical and clinical locations. Assist in ordering, stocking, and maintaining department inventory levels. Perform required duties to maintain a contaminant-free work environment. Document and maintain records of daily activities according to department policies and procedures. Adhere to AORN, AAMI and Joint Commission standards (e.g. biological, chemical and mechanical monitoring) in the performance of duties.
