The Patient Care Technician provides bedside care, assists with activities of daily living, and performs basic nursing procedures under RN supervision. Responsibilities include documenting vital signs, performing phlebotomy, and floating between Med/Surg, ER, and ICU/CVU departments.
A high school diploma and hospital experience are required. Candidates must hold or obtain a CNA, EMT, or CMA certification within one year of hire.
The Patient Care Tech assists patients with healthcare needs, activities of daily living and provides bedside care, including basic nursing procedures, all under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). In this role, the Patient Care Technician may also function as a phlebotomist by performing blood collection by venipuncture or dermal puncture, as appropriate. The Patient Care Tech I will float between the Med/Surg, ER, and ICU/CVU departments.
