The technician is responsible for registering patients, collecting blood, urine, and swab specimens, and performing EKGs. They also process specimens for transport and collaborate with physicians and team members to ensure efficient workflow.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and have completed a formal phlebotomy training program. At least one year of experience in a fast-paced environment and a phlebotomy certification are preferred.
Accurately registers patients with appropriate demographic information, determines orders needed, collects all required specimens to include, blood, urine, or swabs, prioritizes workflow with appropriate sense of urgency, performs EKGs, processes specimens for courier transport to the laboratory, communicates effectively with referring physicians, collaborates with team members and leadership, assists in training new team members, performs clerical and miscellaneous duties as needed.
