Requires a Master's or Doctorate in Nursing and current NP licensure in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Candidates should have 1-3 years of NP experience, with at least 2 years in geriatrics, acute care, hospice, or oncology.
HopeHealth is seeking an experienced Palliative Nurse Practitioner for its affiliate HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care to treat patients inpatient and in the community.
This is a per-diem position that is not eligible for benefits. To stay active with the role, we require a minimum of two weekend shifts per month (Saturday or Sunday) working at one of two large academic hospitals in Providence, RI. The ideal candidate will have added flexibility to pick up shifts at community hospitals during the week, filling in planned and unplanned absences on HopeHealth’s inpatient palliative care teams that are embedded in these hospitals.
The Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner works in collaboration with the referring provider and appropriate consultants to provide relief of suffering for patients and families facing serious illness. They will provide assessment and recommendations to relieve burdensome symptoms like pain, dyspnea, anxiety, fatigue. They will be able to communicate serious news and help patients and families establish goals for care compassionately and clearly.
The palliative Nurse Practitioner needs to be highly collaborative, working cooperatively with patients, families, referring providers, and hospital staff, serving as an expert in hospice and palliative care.
