The Chemical Dependency Counselor I provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Responsibilities include developing treatment plans, facilitating individual and group counseling, and coordinating care with multidisciplinary teams.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED and two years of full-time experience in chemical dependency treatment, or a relevant degree to substitute for some experience. A State of Alaska CDC1 certification and a valid driver's license are required.
Education High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Experience 2 year full-time work experience in chemical dependency treatment (1 year of experience may be substituted if the candidate has a Master's, Bachelor's, or Associate's degree from an accredited educational facility in a relevant field) Preferred The clinician is able to effectively provide counseling knowledge, skills, and attitudes with consistency and effectiveness in a variety of counseling interactions Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities Experience with computerized management information systems License/Certification Certification as a CDC1 in the State of Alaska First Aid/CPR Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy, or obtain within 90 days of hire, or, with approval of the hiring manager, sign a *Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in lieu of having a driver's license to perform the required duties of the position (If Applicable) Special Skills Knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR, Part 2 regulations Excellent interpersonal communications, public speaking, and presentation skills Knowledge of child protection and ICWA laws Must be willing to become familiar with Tribal Court Codes and Dena'ina culture Maintains awareness of community resources available to clients and families Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful and kind when dealing with un'ina, visitors, co-workers and others Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, or obtain within 90 days This position is a Covered Position subject to all requirements of the Alaska Barrier Crimes Act (ABCA) and to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, (ICPA). ABCA and ICPA requirements apply and must be complied with at all times in order to remain in the position. *Memorandum of Understanding: Serves as documented evidence that the Kenaitze Indian Tribe has expressed the ineligibility of an employee to operate motor vehicles owned, leased or rented by the Kenaitze Indian Tribe, or to operate a personal vehicle on behalf of the Kenaitze Indian Tribe.
