Direct Support Professional-1st Shift

Provides direct support to individuals by implementing and supporting person-centered support and behavior plans, respecting and understanding the rights of individuals supported, ensuring safety, recognizing individual needs, and encouraging independence to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

• Depending on position, this could include assisting individuals with activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and transferring while encouraging the individual to perform as much self-Care as possible. Understanding and utilizing adaptive equipment including wheelchairs and belts/Locks, hoyer lifts, etc. And be able to securely load and unload clients’. (Note: Not applicable to all positions.)
• Driving individuals to daily appointments, work, day programs, recreation events, and stores as needed.
• Completing medication records and counts.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for individual(S). Performing general housekeeping and teaching/Supporting individual(S) to perform housekeeping.
• Completes all trainings including new hire, on the job and annual trainings within the designated timeframe.
• Understands and follows proper physical safety and emergency protocols.
• Completes all documentation accurately and timely.

Qualifications

• The minimum age requirement is 18 years.
• Valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.
• Must pass a drug screen and comprehensive background check.

• Cpr/First aid - Provided.
• Hcsp certificate
• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to grasp the equivalent of a 12 oz. Can.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be able to assist with personal care
