The Locum Anesthesiologist is responsible for administering and managing anesthesia before, during, and after various surgical procedures. They must coordinate with surgical teams to ensure patient safety and optimal clinical outcomes.
Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree, be board-certified in Anesthesiology, and possess a valid Virginia state medical license. Experience with Epic EMR and various complex surgical cases is required.
This contract position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to patient care in a hands-on, on-site capacity while collaborating with our skilled medical team.
As a Locum Anesthesiologist, you will play a vital role in delivering safe anesthetic care to patients undergoing a variety of procedures. Your expertise will help ensure the highest standards of patient safety and comfort, aligning with our commitment to excellence in medical practice.
Administer anesthetics to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures Monitor patients' vital signs and manage anesthesia throughout surgical procedures Coordinate with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes Evaluate patients' medical histories to determine the best anesthetic plans Provide pre-operative assessments and post-operative care Respond effectively to emergencies during surgery Document patient care activities accurately and timely Stay up-to-date with advancements in anesthesiology practices and techniques
Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree Valid state medical license in Virginia Board certification in Anesthesiology Previous experience in a clinical setting preferred Strong knowledge of anesthesia-related techniques and practices Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse healthcare team
Schedule: 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts
1:10, or 1:14 weeknight and weekend beeper call rotations
Shifts available at several facilities
Spinal, regional, and epidural anesthesia
Spine, OB, complex vascular, complex orthopedic, pediatrics, ventilation management, and central/arterial line insertion
Will work independently
EMR: Epic
Must be board-certified
