The PAT RN manages the pre-admission process, including coordinating registration and performing necessary pre-operative testing for surgical patients. They are responsible for assessing patient health status, initiating IVs, and ensuring all medical records and consents are accurate.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited nursing program with a current Texas Nursing License and active CPR certification. A minimum of two years of experience in surgery, PACU, or a completed clinical nurse specialty class is required.

The Preadmissions Testing Nurse-PAT RN is responsible for implementing the Pre-Op holding record (patients’ medical record), and the assimilation of the patients’ hospital record. The pre-admission nurse is also responsible for implementing the nursing process performing needed pre-op testing and providing for the continuity and quality of nursing care for patients.
