The Surgical Technologist serves as a scrub technologist in the surgical suite, providing patient care and supporting the Registered Nurse. Key duties include maintaining aseptic techniques, preparing surgical instruments, and assisting with the patient's plan of care.
Candidates must be high school graduates and hold a BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist course and one year of experience are preferred.
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job: Education and Formal Training: High school graduate or equivalent required Completion of Surgical Technologist Course from an Accredited CAHEA Program preferred Work Experience: 1 year experience as a surgical technologist preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Works with complex monitoring and life- saving equipment. Reads, writes, and speaks English. Knowledge of Standard Precautions. Position involves skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material. Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific physiological/psychosocial/ developmental/ spiritual needs of patients typically served. Demonstrates self-directed learning and achievement of assigned clinical area objectives.
