The GI Technician provides delegated patient care under the supervision of an RN, assisting physicians during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. They are also responsible for the proper cleaning, disinfection, and storage of endoscopes according to SGNA standards.
Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a GI Lab and a High School diploma or GED. CPR certification is also required.
Is accountable to and perform duties under the direct, onsite supervision of the RN when providing delegated patient care. The GI technician contributes to optimal patient outcomes by providing delegated patient care after demonstrating competency. Communicates with patients and families, and strives to maintain a steady level of productivity. Maintains regulatory agency requirements, nursing and Hospital policies procedures and standards.
