The ED Care Technician provides basic patient care, including taking vitals, performing EKGs, and phlebotomy. They are also responsible for applying complex casts and orthopedic splints and assisting with patient transport and housekeeping.
A High School diploma or GED and a current AHA BLS CPR certification are required. CNA or EMT-B certifications are preferred and may lead to higher compensation.
The ED Care Technician is responsible for application and removal of casts including complex casting and orthopedic splints and devices in the Emergency Department in addition to providing basic care to patients. This includes taking vital signs, performing EKGs and cardiac monitoring, phlebotomy, bedside lab testing, CLIA and assisting patients with activities of daily living, specimen collection including assisting with pelvic exams, basic respiratory therapy, wound care, performing CPR and observing patients for physical/emotional changes. Duties also include transporting patients on stretcher or by wheelchair to other departments, stocking supplies and housekeeping duties.
Preferred Qualifications: Healthcare experience
