Perform basic patient care procedures including taking vital signs, ECGs, and wound care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Record patient information in charts and communicate with the care team to ensure continuity of care.
Requires a High School diploma or GED and certification as a CNA in the state of work or an EMT-B license in Illinois. BLS for healthcare providers certification is also required.
The Emergency Department Technician functions as a member of the emergency department patient care team, under supervision of the registered nurse. The emergency department technician I performs basic patient care procedures to provide for the care, comfort, and safety of patients, including, but not limited to, taking vital signs, assisting patients with activities of daily living, specimen collection, performing ECG's, post-mold application, crutch-walk teaching, spinal immobilization, basic wound care, and observation of patients for physical/emotional changes. Other duties include recording pertinent information in patient charts and communicating with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuity of care.
6 or more months experience in a clinical healthcare environment Able to communicate effectively in person; by telephone; and computer messaging 6 or more months experience in supporting physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of patients OSF HealthCare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
