Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care across float assignments in units such as ICU, ER, Med-Surg and related services, applying critical care skills as needed.
Perform comprehensive assessments, monitor patient status, administer medications, manage IV therapies, and respond to emergencies per policy.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams; participate in rounds and care planning; document in the electronic medical record; ensure accurate handoffs.
Maintain patient safety and confidentiality, adhere to infection control practices, and provide patient and family education as appropriate.
Adapt to changing acuity and unit needs, maintain accountability, and support quality initiatives and safe patient care delivery.

Requirements

Licensure: Current New York State Registered Nurse license
Education: BSN required
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (through AHA or RQI) required; NIHSS; CPI certification within 90 days; Basic Coronary Care within 6 months
Experience: Minimum 1 year of Med-Surg/Telemetry or Critical Care experience
Skills: Ability to float to ICU, ER, Med-Surg and related units; strong communication and teamwork; proficient in electronic medical records
