Performs professional MRI and CT services, including protocoling patients, scheduling special studies, and providing quality assurance. Facilitates communication between radiology physicians, technologists, and referring offices to ensure efficient patient care.
Requires an Associate degree or equivalent experience and certification from the ARRT or a Registered Nurse license. Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in MRI/CT procedures and patient workflow management.

Performs professional aspects of the MRI or Computed Tomography services including protocoling patients, scheduling special studies, providing assistance for certain MRI or CT procedures, quality assurance and monitoring. Assists with and facilitates communications among radiology attendings, fellows and resident physicians, MRI or CT technologists, referring physicians and their offices, physician extenders and patients.
Job Description: Primary
Protocols patients for MRI or CT procedures, obtains information as necessary to facilitate completion of study in accordance with established guidelines: answers protocol questions from radiology technologists and refers providers in an appropriate and timely manner; coordinates issues revolving around elevated creatinine, renal failure and dialysis, including obtaining required patient information in advance of study; and reviews pre-protocol information provided by patient and referring physician’s office and performs chart review for care coordination for complex issues, counter indications; and reviews outpatient orders for completeness and appropriateness, places corrected orders for referring physicians. Coordinates and schedules MRI or CT guided biopsies and special studies: receives requests for special studies; performs a chart review and patient assessment to confirm appropriateness of request, communicates and schedules special studies in advance, obtaining and verifying information in accordance with established protocols; schedules procedures; coordinating with relevant staff physician schedule’s to ensure that the appropriate expertise is available for each special study; and communicates and educates patients on all pre-procedure prep and places orders for any adjunctive prep for procedures. Assists with activities that are the Radiologist’s responsibilities in the performance of MRI or CT scanning including coordinating requests for review of MRI or CT studies done at outside institutions and performing colon insufflations, virtual colonoscopies, or other special procedures.
