Perform clinical tasks and procedures to support patient care within the Orthopedic Clinic. Provide administrative support to the clinic and the Orthopedic service line.
Requires BLS certification and a Medical Assistant certification (or ability to obtain one). Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma, one year of medical assistant experience, and orthopedic clinic experience.
Orthopedic Clinic Medical Assistant Functions as a member of the clinic patient care team performing clinical tasks and procedures to support the delivery of care. Provides administrative support to the clinic and to Orthopedic service line. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position Demonstrates the ability to operate applicable office equipment Exhibits the ability to deal effectively interdepartmentally & with the public Exhibits the ability to maintain confidentiality, think and act independently with minimal supervision Medical Terminology Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified Medical Assistant or obtain within 16 months of hire Casting and Splinting Certification within two years of employment College level education in secretarial sciences preferred Completion of basic medical terminology preferred High School diploma or equivalent preferred EXPERIENCE One (1) year recent medical assistant experience preferred Recent Orthopedic Clinic experience preferred GENERAL INFORMATION Union Affiliation: UFCW The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.
