The Phlebotomist is responsible for drawing blood and obtaining various clinical specimens from patients with minimal discomfort. Key duties include ensuring accurate labeling, verifying patient identity, and adhering to Medicare guidelines for test requirements.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED. Previous experience in phlebotomy is preferred.
Maintain accuracy in all work; Complete tasks on time and per any deadlines, label specimens with a high degree of accuracy, ensure proper tubes are used for each blood test ordered Verify the identity of every patient before collecting any samples identification and sample collection using paper orders in the event of an interruption in computer service Be aware of Medicare guidelines, send-out test requirements, and special tests; Explain Medicare ABNs to patients clearly and accurately Perform venipuncture and finger/heel stick procedures with a high degree of professionalism and concern for the patient, including a minimum of 2 sticks per encounter Collect nasal and throat swabs and blood cultures when needed
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED Experience preferred
