Requires a high school diploma and at least one year of experience as an ophthalmic technician or assistant. COA or COT certification is strongly preferred along with proficiency in ophthalmic terminology and clinical workflows.
Description Experienced Ophthalmic Technician – $250 Sign-On Bonus!
As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting physicians, ensuring efficient patient flow, and delivering an exceptional patient experience. The ideal candidate possesses strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate with both patients and providers. Key Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive patient workups and ophthalmic testing Accurately document examination findings, assessments, and treatment plans Assist ophthalmologists during examinations, procedures, and in-office laser treatments Obtain and document patient medical histories Educate patients regarding diagnoses, medications, and treatment recommendations Ensure patients understand physician instructions and follow-up care Maintain efficient patient flow and communicate appointment status Administer ophthalmic medications as directed Sterilize instruments and maintain ophthalmic equipment Triage patient phone calls according to clinical protocols Assist patients with contact lens insertion and removal Clinical Skills & Equipment Experience Preferred Experience with the following is highly desirable: Auto Refractor Retinoscope Phoropter Slit Lamp Pentacam / Corneal Topography Wavescan IOL Master Zeiss OCT Heidelberg OCT Humphrey Visual Field Testing Pachymetry Tonometry Color Vision Testing Extraocular Muscle Function Testing Hirschberg Testing Van Herick Measurements Worth 4-Dot Testing Stereopsis Testing
What We're Looking For: High School Diploma or equivalent required Minimum of one (1) year of ophthalmic technician or ophthalmic assistant experience required COA or COT certification strongly preferred Knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, clinical workflows, and patient care standards Basic understanding of medical coding terminology and conventions Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a busy clinical setting Professional demeanor and commitment to patient confidentiality Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to assist where needed
