The Patient Care Technician provides clinical and supportive care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, including performing EKGs and phlebotomy. They are responsible for monitoring patient conditions, ensuring a safe environment, and maintaining accurate documentation.
Candidates must have a high school diploma, Maryland Nursing Assistant Certification, and completion of an approved training program. A minimum of one year of direct patient care experience and current CPR certification are preferred.

Key duties include obtaining vital signs and specimens, providing comfort measures, assisting with patient positioning for procedures, and performing designated clinical procedures such as fingersticks, phlebotomy, and 12-lead EKGs. The technician is responsible for monitoring patient conditions, ensuring a safe environment, preparing necessary equipment, and adhering to infection control protocols. Furthermore, they contribute to accurate documentation, support staff orientation, maintain ongoing competency, and participate in emergency response efforts, all focused on upholding high standards of patient care and safety.
