The Medical Assistant provides high-level clinical support to the cardiology care team by performing delegated tasks such as medication administration and phlebotomy. They are responsible for prioritizing patient care based on acuity and documenting all care within the medical record.
Candidates must possess a Medical Assistant Diploma with a 160-hour externship or be a Certified Medical Assistant. Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross is also required.
Delivers care as delegated by the physician/authorized practitioner or RN, to assigned patient population, or individual patient. Prioritizes work based on patient acuity, available resources, patient/family preferences, provider schedule, in collaboration with the physician/authorized practitioner and other health care team members. Performs high and low risk technical procedures defined by the clinical setting includes medication and vaccine administration, specimen collection, assistance with CPR. Effectively communicates compliance and concerns to delegating physician/authorized practitioner/RN. Takes action to assure continuity of care for all assigned patients. Documents care in the medical record. Required Qualifications Possess a Medical Assistant Diploma with proof of completion of a 160-hour externship or Certified Medical Assistant American Associate of Medical Assistants or Medical Technologist American Medical Technologists Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
