The Medical Lab Technician performs common testing procedures, reports results, and maintains laboratory instruments and quality control. They are also responsible for collecting, labeling, and processing specimens while maintaining a safe and aseptic work environment.
Applicants must hold an Associate of Applied Science degree in Clinical Lab Technology or equivalent and a current Tennessee MLT (ASCP) certification or AMT license. Basic Life Support certification is required within 60 days of hire.

· Performs common testing procedures and reports test results.
· Performs instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
· Performs quality control testing.
· Maintains supplies needed for performance of tests.
· Labels, processes and delivers specimens for testing.
· Collects blood specimens using age-appropriate techniques.
· Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens.
· Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.
