The Mohs Surgery Medical Assistant will prepare patients for Mohs surgery, assist surgeons during procedures, and provide post-operative support. They will also maintain documentation and coordinate with administrative staff for scheduling.
Candidates must have dermatology experience, with Mohs or surgical dermatology experience being a strong plus. A high school diploma is required, and Medical Assistant certification or surgical technician training is preferred.
Prepare patients for Mohs surgery by taking medical histories, recording vital signs, and addressing patient concerns. Assist surgeons by preparing and handling surgical instruments and equipment during procedures. Ensure the surgical environment is maintained in compliance with safety and infection control standards. Provide post-operative instructions and support to patients to promote optimal recovery. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient interactions and procedures in electronic health records (EHR). Coordinate with administrative staff to schedule appointments and follow-up visits efficiently. High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant certification or surgical technician training preferred. Experience working in dermatology is required. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and surgical aseptic techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and clinical staff. Ability to multitask and work well under pressure in a fast-paced clinical environment. Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare software.
