OVERVIEW Monitor patient heart rhythms, identify abnormalities, maintain medical records, and process patient orders while supporting patient care. Flexible scheduling may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.

Range: $18.65 - $27.04 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm pattern, current pattern, and prior variances. Observes screens of cardiac monitors and listens for alarm to identify abnormal variation in heart rhythm. Informs RN caring for the patient in an urgent manner of variances in pattern. Provides shift report to staff caring for the patient as requested. Completes appropriate documentation as required by standards. Measures length and height of patient's heart rhythm pattern on graphic tape readout and posts information on patient records. Triages ongoing appropriateness of tele services, discussing with supervisor. Processes orders in an accurate and timely manner. Answers the telephone and call lights appropriately and provides information or relays messages to patients and staff. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred Completion of Unit Clerk course or equivalent on the job training Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms preferred CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE Successful completion of the Mercy Health System telemetry course.
