Position Summary

The Audiologist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats hearing, balance, and related auditory disorders in patients across the lifespan, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. This position provides comprehensive audiological services, develops individualized treatment plans, recommends amplification and assistive listening devices, and collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare and educational teams to improve communication outcomes and quality of life.

Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment and Diagnosis Conduct comprehensive audiological evaluations for pediatric and adult patients. Perform diagnostic hearing tests, including pure-tone audiometry, speech audiometry, tympanometry, otoacoustic emissions (OAE), auditory brainstem response (ABR), and vestibular assessments as appropriate. Interpret test results and communicate findings clearly to patients, families, caregivers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. Identify hearing loss, auditory processing disorders, tinnitus, balance disorders, and related conditions. Treatment and Rehabilitation Develop and implement individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans. Recommend, fit, program, verify, and troubleshoot hearing aids and other assistive listening devices. Provide counseling regarding hearing loss, communication strategies, hearing conservation, and device use. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed. Pediatric Services Conduct age-appropriate hearing assessments for infants, children, and adolescents. Participate in newborn hearing screening follow-up and early intervention programs. Collaborate with parents, educators, speech-language pathologists, and medical providers to support communication development. Provide family education regarding hearing loss, amplification options, and intervention strategies. Adult and Geriatric Services Evaluate and manage hearing and balance disorders in adult and older adult populations. Provide hearing aid evaluations, fittings, and follow-up care. Counsel patients regarding communication strategies, hearing protection, and auditory rehabilitation. Documentation and Compliance Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient records in accordance with organizational, state, and federal requirements. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, professional standards, and applicable regulatory guidelines. Prepare reports, treatment plans, and recommendations for referring providers and other stakeholders. Collaboration and Professional Practice Collaborate with physicians, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, educators, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental meetings. Maintain professional licensure and continuing education requirements. Stay current with advances in audiology, hearing technology, and evidence-based practice.

Requirements

Required Qualifications Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree from an accredited program. Current state licensure as an Audiologist or eligibility for licensure.
