The Ultrasound Tech is responsible for performing routine sonographic exams in inpatient and/or outpatient settings, adhering to established protocols for positioning and image quality while utilizing specialized equipment. This role also involves entering patient information into hospital databases and contributing to departmental excellence through strong technical and interpersonal skills.
Candidates must have education equivalent to two to three years beyond high school or an Associate's degree in Ultrasound technology or a related field, along with required experience in maternity care and obstetrics. Certification by ARDMS in the specific modality is mandatory within 12 months of hire, and the role demands analytical ability to resolve technical problems and explain procedures to patients.
Responsible for performing routine sonographic exams in either an inpatient and/or outpatient setting in accordance with established protocols for positioning, image quality, and ALARA principles. Utilizes a variety of specialized equipment to produce sonographic images, as well as computers and various software programs to enter patient related information into hospital databases. Contributes to the overall excellence of the department through commitment to personal excellence in technical and interpersonal skills.
