This role involves performing accurate routine and specialized laboratory testing, including complex evaluations, to support physicians in diagnosis and ensure quality patient care. Responsibilities also include performing quality control, resolving instrument problems, entering results accurately, and interfacing professionally with medical staff regarding test outcomes.
Candidates must possess an Associate of Science as a Medical Laboratory Technician or a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, along with required ASCP or NCA certification (or eligibility). Preferred qualifications include one to two years of relevant experience, and the role demands strong analytical skills and the ability to work irregular hours.
Associate of Science with a degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician, or equivalent military training/certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician and have been determined to be ASCP eligible. ASCP certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician required or eligible or NCA certification required or eligible. OR Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology required, or Bachelor’s degree with an ASCP or AMT certification for Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist or eligible. ASCP certification required or eligible. Required Physical Requirements: Constant (67-100% of workday) use of arms and hands; frequent (34-66% of workday) standing, walking, and sitting; occasional (0-33% of workday) bending, stooping, and squatting; ability to lift 35 lbs.; ability to push and pull up to 20 lbs.; auditory and visual skills to include color determination. Mental Requirements: Possesses critical thinking and analytical skills. Ability to multi-task. Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team. Capacity to cope with difficult situations. Ability to tolerate irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends.
