The Chaplain serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team, focusing on meeting the spiritual needs of patients, families, caregivers, and staff, including volunteers. This involves providing pastoral care interventions and counseling determined by spiritual assessment and sensitivity to diverse values and beliefs.
The role requires excellence in pastoral care, demanding an authentic demeanor, compassion, and skill in navigating the spiritual dynamics associated with illness, loss, and death. The chaplain must be adept at providing care sensitive to a variety of values, beliefs, and religious orientations.
