The Licensed Practical Nurse will be responsible for direct patient care activities, including rooming patients, triage, specimen collection, catheter management, and administering medications. This role requires maintaining collaborative relationships with physicians and other healthcare providers to achieve desired patient outcomes.
Candidates must be a graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing and possess current licensure as an LPN, potentially requiring licensure in Pennsylvania or a multistate NLC license. One year of clinical experience is preferred, and CPR certification based on AHA standards is required within 30 days of hire.
UPMC Department of Urology is hiring a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse, OP to join their team in Altoona, PA. This is a Monday through Friday daylight position with the hours of 8am to 4:30pm. No evenings or weekends!
This position will work Monday through Friday, daylight hours, with no evenings, weekends, or holidays! This position be responsible for rooming patients for provider, triage, in-baskets, urinalysis and specimen collection, foley catheter insertion/echange and removals, bladder scans, and more!
The ideal candidate will have good organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work in a busy, fast-paced practice. The LPN plays an important role as a member of the care delivery team in the clinical setting. This position will support clinical staff and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.
Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM and IV drip. Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments. Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight. Comply with all policies and procedures. Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse. Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record. Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.
Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing. One year clinical experience preferred.
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Act 34 *Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
